5K

Well this is my story about my first 5K..I have always wanted to do one, and today I DID it... Now mind you I figured I would have trained fairly well before I did one, however this time not the case....

Let me back up a bit first and tell you a little bit about how it came to be... Some friends of ours lost their 19 year old son, 11 months ago in a tragic car accident... As they were trying to come up with something positive to do in his memory, they decided a 5K would be a good way to do so, and they would donate all of the money to his High School for a scholarship... Today at the race his mom was talking and said that they didn't want his last pages of his book to be his funeral, they wanted it to be something happy and positive... WOW... That was a tearjerker...

Yesterday my sister mentions this 5K, (mind you I had known about it for months) but I had totally spaced it.... I just felt this strong feeling deep inside that I really needed to do this.... So I signed up myself, my mom, and Courtnee, and along with my sister and my brother in law we did it ... We were all going to do this and do it together.... Now mind you I have not exercised regularly for a LONG time, other than the weekly hour lawn mowing's... I did not run, but I walked... I did not finish first, but I finished.... The whole night before, I kept thinking "what did I set myself up for?" But I had this persistent feeling in my heart that I needed to do it, for the Blackburn's.... When we finished my heart was so full, and so happy....Truly a life altering, humbling moment for me... Something I NEVER thought I could do, and when I wanted to quit, I dug a little deeper to find a little more... Thanks to my family for being so supportive and not letting me quit... What a fantastic day!!!

Dakota...

Just wanted to wish my sweet nephew a Happy Birthday today... Some of my faves about him...

- His sweeter than sweet spirit..
- His smile, just melts your heart.
- He is so darn cute...
- Love his personality; sometimes a jokester, sometimes a sweetheart, sometimes a softy.. :)
- I love the closeness he shares with my kids.. :)
- I love the way he loves his family, so cute..
- He is so easygoing, love that about him...
- He tries to hide whenever I take a picture, but sometimes I sneak one in.. :)
- He is so cute with his pups... ;)
- He is just a lovable sweet kid... :)

One of my most favorite memories of Koda is when we went deer hunting with them a few years ago... Dakota had this dream that cows were going to get him, and as he was having this dream someone (I think his Aunt Janet) banged on the window of the trailer, totally scaring him to death... The next day he was telling us that the cows were coming to get him and they were bringing all of their friends... It was so cute.. Still makes me smile to think about it.. :) Love you Koda, hope you had a great birthday...

365 (Week 37)

Whew seems like a whirlwind week to me..

Day 251 - 9/8/2009 I have no idea what they were doing, I guess this is what happens when they are told to go to bed, and happen to come across a shower cap.. They thought this was the funniest thing they had ever seen.. I guess they are pretty sheltered.. :)



Day 252 - 9/9/2009 Jade was trying to hide from me.. It was too funny... Today was also my grandparents 60Th wedding anniversary.. Happy anniversary G&G, I hope it was special.. :)


Day 253 - 9/10/2009 Tonight was my card club with some pretty amazing women.. We had so much fun, and loved, loved, loved the cards... I have really came to love all of these girls.. :)


It was also my sweet sisters anniversary, and being the SAINT she is, she offered to take the kiddos fishing, so I could go to my card club... I so owe her.. She is the bestest Auntie... My kids are blessed to have her.. :)


Day 254 - 9/11/2009 One more thing we added to my amazing kitchen... My AMAZING husband mounted some lights under the cabinets... It looks so good... Awww I am one lucky gal.. :)



Day 255 - 9/12/2009 Stockton went and helped the Matheson's clean the church.. See we do have proof he works.. he he he..


Day 256 - 9/13/2009 We had Stockton's and my nephew Dakota's parties today, they are only a few days apart, so we combined them.. What a couple of sweethearts.. :)


Day 257 - 9/14/2009 Stocks ACTUAL birthday... Sometimes it feels like we party all weekend... We took him to Olive Garden for dinner, he was kinda embarrassed while they sang... Too fun...


On the way home we drove by the temple and absolutely had to stop and look, as it was completely breathtaking.... :)

Today is my Stockton's 11Th birthday... Just want to wish him a Happy Birthday... Here are some of my faves about him...

- His gorgeous eyes, gonna be a heartthrob with those beauties.. :)
- His sweet personality, love it..
- The fact that he will still give his mommy hugs and kisses..
- His small obsession with Basketball... :)
- The way he can fit in with anyone, adapts to any situation..
- His little jokester personality, is always making us laugh...
- Love that he loves school and does well at it.. :)
- He is a good role model for his little brothers..
- Love that he is not afraid of trying new things.
- He is so happy all the time.. :)
- Love that he is just an all around good kid...
- The way he just breaks out into song anytime, anywhere... I keep telling him one day he will be in the opera.. :)

Hope you have a great day Stock... We love you so much and are so proud of the handsome young man you are becoming... :)

Fishing..

My cute sister and brother in law took the kiddos fishing this past weekend.. All of a sudden my kids are loving fishing... :) So funny to hear them talk about when they are going, where they are going, what they are taking.. :) Just a few pics from their fishing trip.. Everyone caught something, except for Stock.. Thanks Nancy & Levi for making the kids' day.. :)

365 (Week 36)

Whew, what a week... Hope our pics are still enjoyed, most days nothing too exciting, but still a small glimpse into our lives.. :)

Day 244 - 9/1/2009 Cold Stone has got to be one of our all time favorite treats... Our favorite mix is, Cake batter ice cream, caramel and brownie.. YUMMY... :)

Day 250 - 9/7/2009 Can I just say I have the most AWESOMEST husband on the planet... He basically transformed our family room/kitchen into a little slice of heaven... He is the most hardworking man I know.. I absolutely love how it turned out, thanks honey for being so AMAZING, I love you... :)
