I saw this idea on Lisa Bearnson's website, making gratitude journals, and decided to make these with my 8 year old activity day girls. We talked about being grateful for all we have and decided to write down a few things a day that we are thankful for. I had tons of paper donated to me by my sister Nancy's sister in law, (an amazing amount of fun girly paper), and decided this was a perfect use for it. The girls had so much fun doing these, it's funny how they all started with the same paper, same book and yet they all turned out so different. We also included this wonderful quote.
"As you start to write, you could ask yourself 'How did God bless me today?'" If you do that long enough and with faith, you will find yourself remembering blessings. And sometimes you will have gifts brought to your mind which you failed to notice during the day, but which you will then know were a touch of God's hand in your life. Preserve [these memories] for the day that [you] and those you love will need to remember how much God loves [you] and how much [you] need Him." Henry B. Eyring
I even decided to make me one, and I am going to try to write in it everyday. I started mine Saturday and this was my list.
1- A new year, a fresh start
2- My kids friends
3- Being able to wash my car (no snow for a few days)
4- Diet coke, some days makes a bad day better
5- Home movies, love having a glimpse into the past :)
6- Stockton's new teacher, looking forward to meeting her
I am thankful that someone was able to share this idea, so we could enjoy it too.
